In December 2020, Gursharan Singh, a farmer from Punjab’s Moga district joined the farmers’ protest on Delhi's borders against the farm laws enacted by the BJP government at the centre. Over 40 days later, the former soldier has not been home to see his wife and children. Amandeep Singh, a farmer from Bathinda district, is the sole breadwinner of his family and he, too, has been giving vigil at the protest since then. As the deadlock between the farmers and the administration continues, thousands like Gursharan and Amandeep are undeterred in their demands even as they suffer the pain of separation from families, with no end in sight.
