KAS – The Caravan Diversity Fellowship
The Caravan magazine is deeply committed to improving the representation of marginalised communities in its newsroom. The diversity fellowship is a further demonstration of The Caravan's commitment to addressing the larger problem of the lack of diversity across Indian newsrooms. Studies over several decades have shown that a vast majority of jobs in Indian media are occupied by the privileged few, from historically superior caste groups. The CSDS study in 2006 and the Oxfam study in 2018 stress the need to open jobs in media to diverse groups and the historically marginalised.
KAS directly supports the fellows and The Caravan does not accept any financial resources from KAS. The Caravan only provides free professional training to KAS fellows. The fellowship is advertised annually, at the end of every year. Kindly visit this page for next year’s announcement.
