21 May, 2023

Between 18 and 19 May 2023, on the directions of the Indian Railways, the district administration of Haldwani, in Uttarakhand, demolished over 400 houses in Nagina Colony. Residents say the demolitions were illegal as they have all the necessary paperwork, but railways is now claiming that land.

A government document, available with The Caravan, states that the area of Lalkuan Nagar Panchayat was notified as a revenue village in 1975, and a notified list of occupiers was made in 2008.
