Tumhari Amrita

01 June, 2012

Based on AR Guerney’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated play Love Letters, Tumhari Amrita chronicles the story of two people who would not come together and who could not stay apart. The play debuted in 1992 at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai with Shabana Azmi and Farooque Sheikh as Amrita and Zulfi whose love story is told through an exchange of letters spanning 35 years. In the two decades of the play’s journey, the actors have never memorised the lines, and on each performance read the epistles as letters just received.
