Spic Macay is the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth. The organisation is 35 years old and spread over 35 cities in India, with a presence in rural areas as well. It organises various lectures, demonstrations, workshops and film screenings.
Virasat is one of its cultural festivals, comprising performances and workshops in folk and classical arts, literature, crafts, talks, theatre, yoga and cinema. It aims at close interaction between students, artists and craftsmen. The Virasat series all over India will be kicked off in Delhi on 6 September. The inaugural event will feature performances by singer Girija Devi and dancer Malavika Sarukkai.
