Bangalore Queer Film Festival (BQFF) showcases cinema beyond the stereotypical portrayals of the LGBT community for comedic effect or as objects of curiosity. It is a curated exhibition that explores multiple dimensions of queer experience through domestic and international gay documentaries, movies and short films. Last year’s festival showed films such as Wong Kar Wai’s Happy Together, Gus Van Sant’s Mala Noche and Michael Penland’s A Ring Of Their Own. Alternative Law Forum is holding the second chapter of the queer film festival in Bangalore on 26, 27 and 28 February. The point of the festival is to draw a large audience and screen good films with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender stories that people might not otherwise have access to. A photo exhibit is also planned.
