NATIONAL GALLERY OF MODERN ART, DELHI

The National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi was no unfamiliar turf to Prabuddha Dasgupta, who spent some of his early years on the gallery premises during his father’s tenure as its director. As a photographer, Dasgupta was perhaps best known for his commercial work. His personal project, “Longing,” was in the process of being published in 2012, when he suddenly passed away. Photographs from this project form part of this retrospective at the NGMA. The exhibit is a fitting tribute, and not merely because of its location; it clearly demonstrates the daring vision that made Dasgupta’s photography so influential.
