Peak Shift Effect (Art)

01 February, 2013

This is a group exhibition curated by Gayatri Sinha to commemorate 25 years since the gallery’s inception. The title of the show is a term of psychology which, here, refers to the intuitive capability of artists to recognise heightened visual stimuli, and then to use them to create an artistic language. The exhibition features a mix of art practices that draw on a free flow of ideas. The 15 participating artists invoke play and suggestion, creating both real and illusory narratives. Together they present the newer tendency in Indian art, to assume an inter-media position, with a worldview that is both anti-heroic and self-reflexive.
