Every year, the National Centre for the Performing Arts invites a renowned Indian dance institution to present a series of performances, lecture-demonstrations, master classes and seminars. This year, the NCPA will host the late Guru Bipin Singh’s Manipuri Nartanalaya, to celebrate the maestro’s ninety-sixth birth anniversary. Guru Bipin Singh, in collaboration with the Jhaveri sisters and Kalavati Devi, founded the Manipuri Nartanalaya in 1972 to bring traditional and classical Manipuri dances from temples to theatres.
