In this Bengali feature film, directed by Ashish Avikunthak and inspired by Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, two actors from Kolkata head to the Maha Kumbh Mela, the largest gathering of humans on earth, in search of Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of Vishnu. But their quest is disrupted by a monumental war, and they seek guidance in Mao Tse-tung’s “Little Red Book.”

Kalkimanthankatha, 3 July to 1 August, Chatterjee and Lal, 1/18 Arthur Bunder Road, Colaba, Mumbai.
