Counter Gaze

01 October, 2011

Shruti Gupta Chandra’s latest show marks the launch of a new art gallery in New Delhi, Gallery Artspeaks India. In her latest work, Chandra tries to capture the contradictions of human existence in the chaotic, quickly-expanding urban landscapes that are now such an inevitable part of our lives. She relocates and heightens the alienation and frustrations of the post-modern city dweller through the immense scale of her work, and manages to introduce intricacies of politics and gender-play—all of which contribute to etching the condition of life in urban spaces. The exhibition begins at Galerie Romain Roland, and later moves to Gallery Artspeaks India.
