To highlight the art being developed in the other regions of India and to give visibility to the not-so-widely-known, the Centre of International Modern Art (CIMA) designed an annual Summer Show. The show, which is currently under way at the gallery, aims to provide art lovers and viewers a composite view of contemporary art from all over India.
This year, the focus is on how artists are exploring contemporary social concerns through elements of Hindu concepts of rasa and bringing to their artworks a sense of the surreal.
CIMA Summer Show 2011, until 16 July, CIMA Gallery, Sunny Towers, 43 Ashutosh Chowdhury Avenue, Kolkata. For more information, visit cimaartindia.com
