Floating World is the last of five consecutive exhibitions commemorating Gallery Chemould’s fiftieth anniversary. The name of the exhibition, which is curated by Geeta Kapur, is inspired by a style of Japanese woodblock prints, dating to between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, called ukiyo-e—translated as “pictures of the floating world.” The show features Indian art that captures the sensation of being afloat, and includes works by Dhruvi Acharya, Jayashree Chakravarty and Lavanya Mani, among others.

Aesthetic Bind:Floating World, 19 March to 17 April,  Chemould Prescott Road, Queens Mansion, 3rd Floor,  G Talwatkar Marg, Mumbai. For more information, visit www.gallerychemould.com.
