Job Description
We are currently seeking a Social Media Intern to lead our Hindi Magazine's social media engagement efforts as we prepare to launch our Hindi magazine's first print edition.
Social-media interns are incorporated into the magazine’s social media management and engagement process, learning how The Caravan’s stories are promoted, circulated and curated. They learn to perform various tasks to assist the social-media editor and to promote archival and new content. The candidate should be proficient in Hindi and English, familiar with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Primary responsibilities:
- Planning, writing and posting content across The Caravan's handles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, within editorial guidelines.
- Keenly following the domestic and international news cycle to plug relevant pieces from The Caravan archives via posts, threads and multimedia content.
- Writing SEO content, using keyword research and SEO best practices to increase traffic to The Caravan website and to improve its rankings across search-engine results.
- Working with the photo and multimedia team as well as the editorial team to develop innovative, exclusive content for The Caravan’s social-media channels.
- Expanding The Caravan’s social-media outreach and subscription base, using current content as well as the archives.
- Working with the social-media and audience team to publicise The Caravan's print issues and multimedia content.
- Engaging with readers’ and subscribers’ comments and responses.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is a news junkie and has the ability to respond to events quickly; is a multi-tasker, creative and has demonstrable experience in elevating the social media profile of a news organisation. Candidates with experience in journalism are preferred. Knowledge of design and multimedia editing skills is a bonus. Applicants should be familiar with social-media platforms and analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Tweetdeck, Facebook Creator Studio and HootSuite. They should exhibit sound editorial judgement and an enthusiasm for The Caravan’s commitment to improving the quality of writing and reporting in India. Candidates from marginalised communities are encouraged to apply.
The Caravan’s office is a small shop, and requires team players with a willingness to be flexible. The internship is full-time, from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday.

सोशल मीडिया इंटर्न के पास सीखने का अवसर होगा कि कैसे आज किसा मैगज़ीन के सोशल मीडिया के प्रबंधन किया जाता है, पत्रिका की लोकप्रियता बढ़ाने के लिए किस तरह के प्रयास किए जाते हैं और कैसे सोशल मीडिया में सामग्री को प्रमोट किया जाता है. हमारे इंटर्न हमारे सोशल मीडिया एडिटर का सहयोग करने हुए इस क्षेत्र के विभिन्न कार्यों को करना सिखते हैं. उम्मीदवार की हिंदी और अंग्रेजी में अच्छी पकड़ होनी चाहिए और उसे Twitter, Facebook, Instagram और LinkedIn के बारे में पता होना चाहिए.
मुख्य जिम्मेदारियां:
- संपादकीय दिशानिर्देशों के भीतर कारवां के सोशल मीडिया हैंडल्स, फेसबुक, ट्विटर, इंस्टाग्राम और लिंक्डइन, पर सामग्री के प्रसार-प्रचार की योजना बनाना और पोस्ट तैयार करना.
- भारतीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समाचारों पर पैनी नज़र बनाए रखना ताकि कारवां के आर्काइव में उपलब्ध सामग्री को पोस्ट किया जा सके.
- एसईओ लिखना, कीवर्ड रिसर्च और एसईओ की नवीनतम प्रथाओं का इस्तेमाल करते हुए कारवां के लिए ट्रैफ़िक बढ़ाना और हमारी वेबसाइट के लिए सर्च इंजन परिणामों को बेहतर बनाना.
- फोटो और मल्टीमीडिया टीम के साथ और संपादकीय टीम के साथ मिलकर प्रसार-प्रचार के लिए सामग्री तैयार-विकसित करना.
- कारवां के सोशल मीडिया की मदद से पत्रिका का सदस्यता आधार बढ़ाना.
- सोशल मीडिया और ऑडियंस टीमों के साथ काम करते हुए प्रिंट संस्करण और मल्टीमीडिया सामग्री का प्रचार करना.
पाठकों और सदस्यों की टिप्पणियों और प्रतिक्रियाओं को संलग्न करना.
आवश्यकताएं:
आदर्श उम्मीदवार एक समाचार प्रेमी हो और घटनाओं का त्वरित प्रतिक्रिया देने में सक्षम हो. मल्टीटास्क कर सकता हो और रचनात्मक हो. समाचार संस्था की सोशल मीडिया प्रोफ़ाइल को मजबूत करने का अनुभव हो. पत्रकारिता का अनुभव रखने वाले उम्मीदवारों को प्राथमिकता दी जाएगी. डिज़ाइन और मल्टीमीडिया एडिटिंग की जानकारी हो तो और भी अच्छा. आवेदकों को सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफ़ॉर्म्स और गूगल एनालिटिक्स, ट्वीटडेक, फेसबुक क्रिएटर स्टूडियो और हूटस्वीट की जानकारी होनी चाहिए. उम्मीदवारों से उम्मीद की जाती है कि वे संपादकीय विचार और भारत में लेखन और रिपोर्टिंग पर कारवां के संपादकीय दृष्टिकोण और विचार के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध हों. कारवां में हम अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों के उम्मीदवारों को मौका देने पर जोर देते हैं.
