The Caravan is published by the Delhi Press Group, one of India’s leading publishers. Started in 1939, Delhi Press today publishes 33 magazines in 10 languages.


We are looking for a social-media editor who will spearhead The Caravan’s social media engagement. 


Primary responsibilities:

- Planning, writing and posting content across The Caravan's handles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, within editorial guidelines.

- Keenly following the domestic and international news cycle to plug relevant pieces from The Caravan archives via posts, threads and multimedia content.

- Writing SEO content, using keyword research and SEO best practices to increase traffic to The Caravan website and to improve its rankings across search-engine results.

- Working with the photo and multimedia team as well as the editorial team to develop innovative, exclusive content for The Caravan’s social-media channels.

- Expanding The Caravan’s social-media outreach and subscription base, using current content as well as the archives.

- Working with the social-media and audience team to publicise The Caravan's print issues and multimedia content

- Engaging with readers’ and subscribers’ comments and responses

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a news junkie and has the ability to respond to events quickly; is a multi-tasker, creative and has demonstrable experience in elevating the social media profile of a news organisation. Candidates with experience in journalism are preferred. Knowledge of design and multimedia editing skills is a bonus. Applicants should be familiar with social-media platforms and analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Tweetdeck, Facebook Creator Studio and HootSuite. They should exhibit sound editorial judgement and an enthusiasm for The Caravan’s commitment to improving the quality of writing and reporting in India. Candidates from marginalised communities are encouraged to apply.


The Caravan’s office is a small shop, and requires team players with a willingness to be flexible. This is a full-time Delhi based position. Night, holiday and weekend work may be required.
