Job Description
The Product Manager works at the intersection of editorial and business divisions, primarily leading the subscription drive for The Caravan, both English and Hindi, but also enabling the magazine’s social media, advertising and brand content strategies.
We are looking for a highly motivated person who is passionate about The Caravan, and strives to explore the possibilities it offers paying readers and advertisers.
Primary Responsibilities
● Formulate and execute strategies for growing the subscription business in consultation with the editorial and revenue teams.
● Build and maintain relationships with subscribers, advertisers, and media collaborators.
● Support the advertising sales team in developing solutions for advertising and sponsorship revenues for magazine and digital sites.
● Analyse data to identify new avenues for subscription and revenue growth.
● Connect editorial, tech, business and marketing teams to achieve audience and revenue goals.
● Oversee subscription-focussed editorial products like newsletters and online programmes.
● Leverage the magazine’s social media properties to grow reach and revenue.
● Take the lead in organising subscriber outreach programmes such as online and offline events.
● Work with the tech team to constantly improve the product, subscription service, and data collection and analysis.
● Build and maintain relationships with subscribers, advertisers, and media collaborators.
Requirements
● Five years of relevant experience.
● Sound editorial judgement.
● Understanding of media practices and trends at home and abroad.
● Excellent communication and organisational skills.
● Familiarity with digital advertising metrics
● Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance editorial values with business needs.
Preferred Skills
· Experience working in the publishing or journalism industry.
· Strong writing skills
· Expertise in planning and executing digital marketing campaigns, including through email and social media strategies.
· An interest in narrative journalism
