About The Caravan
The Caravan is India’s first long-form narrative journalism magazine. It was relaunched in 2010 as a journal of politics and culture dedicated to meticulous reporting and the art of narrative. Since then, The Caravan has established itself as one of the country’s most respected and intellectually agile magazines and set new benchmarks for Indian journalism.
Responsibilities:
- Ascertaining the factual accuracy of stories slated for publication on The Caravan website and in the magazine.
- Working closely with the fact-checker to ensure timely and smooth flow of the editorial and production process.
- Meeting deadlines while adhering to The Caravan's superior editorial standards.
Requirements:
Applicants must have a penchant for research and a keen eye for detail. The internship would require the candidate to navigate government websites, research databases, archival news reports and other open source web portals in order to determine the factual validity of arguments, quotes, numbers, dates, events and sources cited in a piece. While candidates studying any liberal arts subject are encouraged to apply, it is imperative that they exhibit sound editorial judgement and an understanding of The Caravan's strident pursuit of independent journalism and its commitment to in-depth investigative stories.
Duration: The internship is full-time, from 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday.
The Caravan requires a six-month commitment from fact checking interns.
