Job Description

The Business Manager shall be in charge of advertising sales in various verticals, as assigned to them by the Vice President of advertising sales. They will be expected to reach out to prospective clients, familiarise them with the magazine and its eclectic readership of urban professionals, intellectuals, policymakers, artists and cultural influencers; and impress upon them, the merits of advertising in The Caravan. Working with some of the finest reporters and writers in South Asia and beyond, The Caravan consistently produces exemplary reportage and essays, and has set new benchmarks for Indian journalism along the way. We are looking for a highly motivated person who is passionate about the brand Caravan, what it stands for, the possibilities it can offer to marketeers.

Primary Responsibilities:

-- Be an evangelist of the brand Caravan who can build interest in the brand through passionate and effective communication

-- As an ambassador for the brand, identify and engage with potential clients, and build robust business relations with them
-- Develop a dynamic network of prospective clients and maintain strong contacts

-- Bring forth innovative ideas for marketing and branding that could augment brand identity and value
-- Ideate, conceptualise and engage in brand conversations for developing native advertising solutions including sponsored events..

-- Handle and process correspondence and paperwork related to client accounts


Requirements:

Candidates should have at least three to five years of relevant experience in a a marketing and sales role, preferably in a media organisation. They should have excellent communication and organisational skills. Applicants should have to be self-starters, willing and able to take initiative. Interest in political affairs, literature, art and culture would be preferable.
