This book, a companion to an exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, showcases 18 unique objects—among them Tipu Sultan’s tent and a South Indian temple hanging from the eighteenth century—to create an overview of the making, design and use of textiles on the subcontinent. The book provides the reader with rare insights into ancient Indian textile heritage, as well as the production and sale of the country’s textiles in today’s global markets.
