Aravind Adiga

Adiga’s new novel revolves around a protagonist named Dhananjaya Rajaratnam, a Sri Lankan immigrant in Sydney who works as a cleaner and realises a client of his has been murdered. The book follows his agonising dilemma of whether to come forward as a witness and risk deportation, and reflects on Australia’s reliance on immigrants for its economy and its simultaneous repression of them.
