This is a new translation of the writer and poet Vinod Kumar Shukla’s Deewar Mein Ek Khirki Rehti Thi, which won the Sahitya Akademi award for best Hindi novel in 1999. It explores the marriage of two characters, Raghuvar and Sonsi, and focusses on the humorous, the absurd and the lyrical in their everyday lives.
