JUS’ JAZZ 2012

With five American bands and one Russian band playing over three days, this versatile festival will feature jazz musicians of varied talents and specialties. Russell Malone, a guitarist from New York will play with his band, while jazz and blues vocalist Diane Witherspoon, will play with her trio. American pianist Helen Sung, who has previously toured India with the Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz and played in Mumbai, will perform with her quartet, which includes Lewis Nash on drums. Tenor saxophonist Igor Butman, one of Russia’s greatest jazz musicians, will play with his sextet with saxophone, trombone and trumpet in the lead, evoking the old big band mood.
