To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, Art Positive, in collaboration with Dastkar, presents ‘Gandhi-giri,’ series of paintings by Gopal Swami Khetanchi that stand as a tribute to Gandhi. More than half a century later, Gandhi is shown looking lost as he is compelled to deal with a modern, IT-savvy and incredibly busy India. In other frames, Gandhi is depicted against a backdrop of the struggling masses. “The contrasting picture of shining India and whining Bharat is what has been the trigger for this new series, says curator Archana Bahl Sapra. Khetanchi is known for his art direction in feature films like Mukaddar ka SikanderKaliaJawalamukhi and Abdullah.
