The International Association of Women in Radio & Television (IAWRT), in association with the India Habitat Centre, has organised a film festival to celebrate the diversity of emerging cinemas from towns and villages across India. These films, borne out of creative zeal and social and political engagement, are in a range of languages and genres and vary in terms of style and content. The festival hopes to encourage dialogue between the different lived experiences of India that emerge from the films, but which often don’t interact with each other. Feature length films, short fictional films, music videos and documentaries are among the types of work to be screened.
The Festival of Emerging Cinema, 8 to 12 August, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. For more information, visit www.iawrt.org
