Cartoonists, ironical visions of daily life: Mario Miranda and Ramón Gómez de la Serna

This exhibition at Instituto Cervantes showcases Indian artist Mario Miranda’s cartoons on Spain alongside Spanish writer Ramón Gómez de la Serna’s witty drawings on Spanish life. A renowned cartoonist, Mario Miranda is best remembered for chronicling Goan life through his work, and for creating the characters Miss Nimbupani and Miss Fonseca. Ramón Gómez de la Serna is remembered as the father of the greguería, a genre of short prose poems that resemble the one-liner in comedy. The same wit can be found in his drawings at this show.
